Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Russia is using “dangerous statements” to undermine diplomatic efforts following allegations of a drone attack on Vladimir Putin’s residence. US President Donald Trump, informed of the incident by Putin, expressed his anger about the timing.

Russian authorities claim that Ukraine launched 91 unmanned aerial vehicles toward Putin’s Novgorod region property during overnight hours. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that all drones were intercepted and destroyed but characterized the alleged attempt as “state terrorism.”

Trump’s public comments highlighted his concern about such actions during peace negotiations. Speaking to reporters in Florida, he distinguished between conventional military operations and targeting a world leader’s personal residence, suggesting the latter complicates diplomatic progress.

Zelensky firmly rejected the allegations in a social media post, calling them complete fabrications. He accused Russia of attempting to undermine diplomatic achievements with Trump’s team and warned that Moscow might be creating a pretext to justify attacks on Ukrainian government buildings.

The controversy comes just one day after Trump and Zelensky met and expressed optimism about achieving peace. The Kremlin’s announcement that Russia would reassess negotiations following Trump’s call with Putin demonstrates how the incident has already impacted the diplomatic landscape.
